Theme: Menstruation is a normal biological process and a sign of good health.
Pyramid program has cerebrated the menstrual hygiene day with students girls and boys from Group Scholaire de Rukira the 28/05/2015 with "Menstruation is a normal biological process and a sign of good health" as the theme of the day which inspired the organizers to invite both girls and boys from the school to cerebrate together the Menstrual hygiene day. Students(girls and boys) have exposed different problems girls encounter in our society that prevent them to cope with a good hygiene during their menses and different problems they have about Menstrual Hygiene Practices. At the end some resolutions at different levels were proposed by the students themselves, and others were given by the volunteers of pyramid program as what everyone can do personally, what can be done by institutions:schools, offices & in other public areas like providing changing rooms for girls & women and hygienic materials needed by them during they periods. Though, the big challenge is still that menstruation in our community is still a subject that can't be talked about openly in public, and the strategy to motivate them was to award the active students with some gifts like pads for girls, soaps and notebooks for both girls and boys, at the end students were very happy, they got the message and were given leaflets that would help them to remind what they have learnt that day! Menstrual hygiene Day has been recently set by WASH program to help the girls and women explore the challenges they face in their everyday life due to their menses and finding solutions to them for their well being. Menstrual Hygiene day in pyramid program were prepared by ABIZERA Nadine pyramid program director and Bazoza Elsa Lina one active member of pyramid program.
